Pitching on just three days rest, Yankees ace CC Sabathia led the Bronx Bombers to a big win over the Los Angeles Angels in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday morning Taiwan time. The victory puts the Yankees just one game away from their first trip to the World Series in six years.
The Los Angeles Angels sent Scott Kazmir to the mound against the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the American League Champion Series. Kazmir was brilliant against the Yankees in the regular season, holding them to a batting average of just over .100. But the postseason is a different story. In the top of the fourth with Alex Rodriguez on third and Jorge Posada on second, Robinson Canoe hit into a fielder’s choice to put the Yankees on the board first.
Kazmir walked Nick Swisher to load the bases, and then Melky Cabrera singled to left to drive in two runs.
Rodriguez hit a home run in the top of the fifth to give him an RBI in all seven postseason games the Yankees have played this season.
Yankees starter CC Sabathia was dominant despite pitching on just three days rest. He threw 101 pitches over eight innings, giving up only one run on a solo homer.
The Yankees added two more runs in the eighth.
And then three more in the ninth to complete the 10-1 drubbing of the Angels. The next game in the series will be on Friday Taiwan time. One more Yankees win will send the team to the World Series.
